Novak Djokovic Gears Up for Long-Awaited Comeback in Shanghai After Five-Year Hiatus
“I can’t wait. I’m super excited to see my Chinese fans, all the tennis fans. It’s one of the nicest tennis tournaments in the world. Five years has been too long to not visit China, so I’m really looking forward to [it].”

Novak Djokovic is set to make his first appearance at the Rolex Shanghai Masters since 2019, following a mixed season that saw him win gold at the Paris Olympics and face an early exit in the US Open’s third round. As he prepares for his Shanghai return, Djokovic aims to boost his position in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, where he currently holds the eighth spot, hoping to secure a 17th qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals.
With 40 ATP Masters titles under his belt, Djokovic looks to add another victory in Shanghai, where Hubert Hurkacz is the defending champion.
Local talents Zhang Zhizhen, currently ranked No. 41, and rising star Shang Juncheng from the #NextGenATP, will represent China at the Rolex Shanghai Masters. Both players will aim to make a significant impact in front of their home crowd at this prestigious tournament.
