Djokovic close to Securing ATP Finals berth despite Paris withdrawal: Will he choose to compete?
After his Paris Masters withdrawal, Novak Djokovic faces a pivotal decision about competing in the ATP Finals if he qualifies. Currently ranked sixth in the ATP Race to Turin, his absence from Paris—the final Masters 1000 of the season—could jeopardize his spot in the Finals.
Despite this potential setback, securing a position in Turin does not appear to be Djokovic’s primary goal, which could open up opportunities for his rivals seeking to qualify.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be playing the Paris Masters this year,” the former world No. 1 shared on Instagram. “I have a lot of great memories, winning seven titles, and I hope to be back with you next year. Sorry to everyone who was hoping to see me there.”
Novak Djokovic currently holds 3,910 points, narrowly leading over Casper Ruud with 3,855 and Andrey Rublev at 3,720 points. For Ruud to overtake Djokovic, he needs just one win, while Rublev must reach at least the quarterfinals to surpass him. Both achievements could lower Djokovic’s position in the standings, impacting his placement in the ATP Race.
