WATCH: Novak Djokovic celebrates after winning staring contest with a hawk in amusing scenes at Miami Open

Novak Djokovic appeared in high spirits as he prepared for his 2025 Miami Open campaign. The Serbian star was spotted playfully engaging in a lighthearted stare-off with nature itself.

Djokovic was anticipated to have a stronger 2025 season after a challenging year on the court. In 2024, he failed to win a Tour-level title for the first time since 2005. The 24-time Grand Slam champion had an impressive run at the Australian Open, reaching his twelfth semifinal in Melbourne. However, his campaign ended unexpectedly when he retired after the first set against Alexander Zverev.

Aside from his strong showing in Melbourne, Djokovic has struggled to make an impact in 2025. In his last two tournaments, he suffered early exits in his opening matches. He fell to Matteo Berrettini at the Qatar Open and then lost to Botic Van De Zandschulp at the BNP Paribas Open. This marked the second consecutive year that Djokovic was defeated by a lucky loser at Indian Wells.

Despite his recent struggles, Djokovic appeared in high spirits ahead of his Miami Open campaign. In a playful moment, he engaged in a staring contest with a hawk. The bird eventually gave in, flying away, prompting a victorious fist pump from the Serbian star. The entertaining incident can be seen in the following video.

Novak Djokovic will begin his tournament with a match against Rinki Hijikata in the second round.
